MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Make a Difference in the Lives of Abused and Neglected Children in Clackamas County
On a cold night in February, four children, ages 4 to 9, were found wandering in the woods near Mt. Hood. They all wore flip-flops and only two of them had winter jackets, which they took turns sharing to stay warm as they searched for their parents. Their parents, who were using heroin, were later found seemingly oblivious to the fact that they had left their children in the woods.
No one should just shake their heads and sadly lament the stories of child abuse and neglect like this. Child Advocates, Inc. recruits, trains and supervises volunteers, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) to make sure the judges make the best informed decisions for the future of the most seriously abused and neglected children in Clackamas County.
Child Advocates, Inc. served 350 children last year. This is only half of the children who needed CASAs’ help. There are 300 children still waiting for a CASA volunteer to help them find safe and permanent homes.
